Arcanecrusader: I'm pretty sure you didn't get the essence of my comment. Consider which part of the energy industry is really holding who - as you said, "at gunpoint". It seems obvious to me that corporatist oil oligarchies are deliberately obstructing market change that will, nevermind easing global warming, move the energy industry towards lower costs, high efficiency, abundance and renewability. When you say "forcing change", I say market manipulation and crippling of the world economy.
