Notice, danbearmd1, that Derek and his father mention church multiple times. How is it that a man with such a disability doesn't bemoan his station or blame God for his disability, while you, an anonymous poster, bring your doubt and anger into this commentary?

Sometimes I wish I could trade lives with one of these guys just for a day to experience this gift.

It's called "free will." For us to be truly free, our lives must be set in motion and allowed to proceed without interference, even if bad things happen to good people. Otherwise, we're just unfeeling robots. You, for example, by your statement have freely elected to be an idiot.

Just wanted to let you all know that Derek recently put up a video of him playing a song I requested called "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose its Flavor" by Lonnie Donegan. It was amazing! I couldn't believe it! You can hear it by going to his youtube page. I'm sure that if anyone wants to request something, he'll play it for you!

Very humbling and instructive about the wonders of the human existence. I'm so glad 60 minutes did this piece and CBS put it on youtube. Thanks!
