Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) is used to increase milk production in about 20% of dairy cattle in the U.S. Activists and consumers, however, hope to decrease its use, citing health, animal rights, environmental, and economic incentives against using the hormone. Here in Philadelphia, Food and Water Watch is conducting a campaign to pass legislation in the 2009 Child Nutrition Act that will better enable public schools to buy rBGH-free milk.
