In the past couple months we had Rochester Police arrest
Emily Good in Her Front Lawn For Filming a Traffic Stop!
In this case the police officer, Mario Masic lied on his police
report to justify this arrest.

Then we had Robert Wanek Arrested for filming in public!
This cop, Dustin Hill also lied on the police report !
The police report can be found on the FaceBook page of
Robert Wanek and that link can be found right down below!

The only good so far that came out of this is that... Officer
Dustin Hill has been suspended without pay for the Illegal arrest
of Robert Wanek and required to take 40 hours in law enforcement
training, including constitutional law and rules of arrest.

Those two video went viral and I hope everything works out for them
including a nice hefty law suit! I hope they get MILLIONS!!!

Now we have another case in washington DC...

What we seem to have in this case is:

» The muzzling of someone covering a public hearing;

» Bald-faced lies by a public official;

» Complicity by Mayor Vince Gray's office in putting out the lies.

Pete Tucker showed up Wednesday to cover a public meeting of the D.C. Taxicab Commission. Tucker runs the website www.thefightback.org. He has advocated for independent cabbies and given voice to their opposition to a medallion system being considered by the city council.

As the meeting began, Tucker placed his recorder on the table in front of the commissioners, next to the microphones. Dena Reed, interim chairwoman of the commission, demanded he move it to another table. "This a public meeting," he says he told her.

Later in the meeting, Tucker took photos of Reed for his website. A cab inspector told him he couldn't take photos and blocked his shot. Someone -- my guess is Reed -- called the Park Police. At this point Jim Epstein, with Reason.tv, started shooting video. The clip shows cops telling Tucker to quit taking pictures.

"I'm a reporter," he says. "This is a public meeting."

They cuff him and escort him out. They arrest him and Epstein and put them in separate holding cells.

Tucker maintains he was taking still pictures. Reed said the exchange between Tucker and the police took place in the hallway. But video shows officers cuffing him right in front of her. She said the taxicab commission did not call for the police to intervene. So Tucker called the cops so they could arrest him?

Gray put out a press release Thursday saying he stands up for public meetings; Attorney General Irvin Nathan is investigating. But Reed might have shown the commission to be too rotten to exist.

"I knew the taxicab commission was already dysfunctional," Council Member Tommy Wells told me, "but this shows that it's dysfunctional even more."

Wells oversees the taxi business as chairman of the council's Committee on Public Works and Transportation.

"I don't know if the commission ever worked," he said. "Do we need one? I'm looking at an overhaul, and what happened the other day proves the need even more."

How about we start by letting reporters cover the meetings?

Ok, lets see what happens here now. It is already known for a fact that there were lies going on.

  • You always hear them say the same thing all the time "I can arrest you for not obeying a order" and then the cuffs go on! Who do they think they are? They think a gun and badge give them special powers? The people need to start fighting back for stuff like this! The reporter was NOT wrong at all!

  • WTF!! we need to wake up, and start taking charge over our own destiny. VOTE RON PAUL!!

  • If he got arrested for recording a public meeting, then why was the person recording this not arrested???????

  • u r witnessing the new world taking place pplz

  • Why do the good cops let this happen? Does the bad cops outnumber the good cops out there?

  • Police state...I hope you all vote wisely in 2012.

  • This is the first time EVER in my life I seen the white guy get arrested and NOT the group of Black people. Not that I enjoy seeing this kinda shit but its surreal to see like the twilight zone almost. I was glad that the people present were supportive of the guy as he was simply doing his job.

  • I think many police departments must be intentionally recruiting ignorant people to fill the ranks. They don't seem to understand basic Constitutional rights of Americans. This officer is a complete goon.

  • "last chance...last chance" - FOR WHAT PIG!? You're gonna arrest him anyway and you know it. SO STOP LYING!!!

Everyone should rise up, AND STOP IT FROM HAPPENING ! ! ! YES, WE DO HAVE THAT AUTHORITY ! ! !

  • @fenianskean The problem with the good cops not saying anything is the "blue wall of silence" and the fear of retaliation. I agree with you and say that the cops who do nothing like the cops in this video are just as guilty as the one asshole. But because they are guilty of not opening their mouth, does not make them bad. I guess it kida makes them cowards tho.
