The book is SOO much better. The portrait it paints is neither romantic nor positive, the way it is presented here. It is obvious that the stupid Hollywood writers were White, and their discomfort at dealing with the triple bombs of race, gender and sex is evident in the stilted, soulless film. What a waste of Anne Rice's deep, sensitive and thought-provoking tour de force.

back then there wasnt racism like today in an anglo imposed system the greeks spanish and romans etc fromthe mediterrenean were not scared of blacks or disgusted by them the way the english who have never seen any other race but their own tillthe 1600s treated blacks like chattel..imposed strict racist laws when LA became anglo the racism color line shit came as well as no more freedom for mixed people ONE DROP is an anglo thing..hence the terms passing.y pass if there is no fear of persecution
