@NickEppo Dogs are your friends, not mine.

@villacustal It is one thing to eat the animals but for them to be treated that way and for them to take pets from people is something else.

back in the communist times ..my father told me that every time when a Filipino ship came to my port , the poorest guys around the port used to trade stray dogs for a sack of oranges or bananas.... It was a fare trade since a sack of oranges would be as much as quarter of salary back then !!!

whatever meat it is, just don't let the animal suffer while it's being killed. Sadly, some people cannot take the meat out of the diet (may the reason be poverty, tradition, lifestyle, health needs, etc) if you're going to kill something, do it quick. :( I salute vegetarians..I just hope animal cruelty ends-and by that, I mean how the animals are killed for food :( p.s. i don't eat dogs.

@sondeleb Very true. New Zealand Courts ruled that a person who barbecue his own dog for food in his own yard is within his rights under proprietorship principles and that constitutional gurantees assured him to be free from punishment in handling his property. Ironically New Zelander Sirus with their hired goons rounded up poor filipino dog catchers who are only trying to make a living and since they can't pay 5000 peso fine, they languished in jail.

For all you New Zealanders out there talking negatively about the Philippines, how about you do some research on your own country? That's right, YOUR country allows the eating of dogs you hypocrites.

@AEVautomatic HOw is a dog's life higher than a Cow or a pig. Cows plow fields, carry heavy loads, dogs wag it's tail lick your face, pigs are smarter and have sharper smell sensory than dog and could perform greater task if only given the chance. Just because Cows and pigs can't display emotion doesn't make them unfairly inferior animals to dogs. Every animal has each own value. No one is unfairly higher. If you eat beef it's hypocrisy to stop others from eating dog meat.

This is really disgusting! The Phil. Govt. should make a stricter law on the killing of dogs, dog fighting, etc.. Dogs are very intelligent and loyal animals. IF dogs could only talk......
-
@villacustal i don't think you understand. When ethicists say life is equal we are not implying that interests of dogs are equal to chickens. Dogs are smarter and have certain social patterns. in short it is better to save a dog than a cow. or it is better to kill a cow than a dog.

very well said. thumbs up.
@Gothic Your standard for right and wrong is tainted by Western bias having grown watching Scobido, and other Western Literature personifying dog as man's best friend. Same as Hindus growing up with a mindset that Cows are Sacred.
But for many of us Filipinos our conscience cannot Unfairly Elevate Dogs from the rest of the Animals just because Americans gave them the chance to become pets. All animals are equal. They can be useful in many ways. They can be food as well.

These Animal Activists have been bullying smaller countries while we in the West are sending cows to Rodeo to get killed with a twisted broken neck.
Leave them alone, it's their land, they can do what they want. Eating dog meat is not like cannibalism. Let them be what they want to be free from harrasment and interference.
