I had the privileged of working with Rose B. Simpson on a performance for the Black Sheep Projects in early 2010. We desired to collaborate on a structure but also express our individual backgrounds as makers. We settled on the idea that building a two-sided wall with a small window and then coating each side with a material related to our identities was a good way to remain separate but equal. We talked very little about our plans for each side and allowed the experience to compare and contrast our actions.
