  • What time period was this? 1700 or 1800's? I would have liked to experience this style of dress. Virgilia's dress was horrid, however. Was Virgilia a rebel of sorts? What was her story? I have always known of North and South but never saw an episode. Thanks for the upload!

  • This was during the civil war...1800s. And yes Virgilia was a rebel. I will post some more clips so you can see her story.

  • Great mini series! I have all three books on dvd.

  • Awesome!

  • If Virgilia had just been a little less fanatic, she might have had a healthy influence on Orry and other southern slave owners. She was right in her opinions, but she went too far.

Her fanatism is a bit tragic also because her own family didn´t treat their poor immigrant workers very well either. And in reality, that´s just a different kind of slavery.

  • they are actually married in real life

  • No one showed up at the wedding, but they came to the reception. Rude.

  • :) I thought it was cute how charming Orry was being to Virgilia. They might've made a cute couple but Virgilia taking too far ruined that chance. Oh well!

  • I love the exchange between Orry and Virgilia, how he sneaks up on her and tries to charm her even though he knows it's a lost cause lol. It's probably my favorite scene out of the first book :)

  • @nicole4310 Virgilia doesn't deserve the title of " rebel" , she was nothing more than carpetbaggin damnyankee trash.

  • @icindy85 White wedding dresses only became common in the early 1900's.

  • @biannwilmer27

    1860's.

  • @icindy85 White has not always been traditional. :)

  • I thought how interesting it was how george and constance (james reed and windy kilbourne) have now been married for almost 20yrs they met filming north and south and married soon after

  • Can someone please tell me why Constance did not wear a white wedding gown?

Despite the lack of attendants, I think this is one of the best TV weddings I've ever seen.

  • @bjornsdottir in many cases the north treated the irish and others worse then the south did slaves
