Yes, you are right. Nobody said it was to be compared to Lexus...but it is better than mine in terms of interior (I own 2008 GS350) because its more logically laid out, and has better visibility of front because of lower cowling layout. Lexus' problem is that its quite fabulous but its simply too clustered and has poor visibility at rear due to thick rear-stretch...but in terms of luxuriness, Hyundai is on par with Lexus. Just look at Veracruz vs. RX-330.
Massive gap??...I dont see it, dude. The silver frame above the grill (part of engine hood) is actually to match with the grill design, otherwise, front end might look weird.
And about the interior materials, NO BODY HAS SAID IT WAS MADE TO BE COMPARED WITH LEXUS...it is just a regular midsize car to be compare with models in its segment, like Accord, Camry, Mazda6 or Altima, Good refinement, but no premium luxury.
