Terfel is a beast! Yeahh!

I thought he was very attractive! More so than Kaufmann. But then I love his voice.

I cringed when Bryn's Scarpia was dying...his acting is superlative!

High G!

As the consumate pig, he is even slimier in this season's (2010) Met production!

Yes, you definitely recognize a Raimondi admirer in me! A very big admirer, in fact! My family and I consider him absolutely the greatest! He's completely breathtaking on stage.

@vilabreze A nice analization! Do I recognise a Raimondi-Fan? ;-)

After seeing and hearing any of Ruggero Raimondi's Scarpias (they're all fascinatingly different), it's hard to listen to anyone else without drawing comaprisons. Bryn Terfel has a wonderful voice, and he's clearly taken a page from Raimondi's book on how to portray Scarpia. With one major exception--Raimondi's Scarpias all possess innate sensuality and are very attractive whereas Terfel's Scarpia delights in displaying brute strength and his behavior is motivated by crass lustfulness.
please more clips of this production expesially Scarpia's scenes: )
