I'm not an animator. My background is in illustration, but my major is actually interactive design ("web stuff").

I took a Drawing In Motion class as an elective to push myself to do something difficult.

The technique used here is drawing 500 images by hand (on a light table) then using a programs like On Location, FlipBook, et cetera, to take images of each page and load them on the computer where A MIRACLE OCCURS and a short movie of dubious quality is created.

It is magic.

Hope you enjoy my feeble efforts. This one is the third and final assignment for the class. I draw quickly, but it still took about 25 hours to do.

Music: Jim Noir--My Patch

Ferret: Mr. Woozle, a.k.a. Epic Ferret Guy, LongFerret

Materials: A variety of blue PrismaPencils on onionskin paper stock

There are two more animations in this series. (I blame my carpal tunnel symptoms on this class.) The first assignment was a study based on Edweard Muybridge photographic motion studies, but YouTube ate it and turned it into a rainbow pixelated acid trip.

P.S. I now have even more respect for the skill and OCD compulsions of old school animators.

  • Regardless of how real it looked, i'd say you truly have an artists soul, the way you captured the movment was so life like. You can't draw that shit mate, you feel it like music. Please post more, you're a legend.

    Peace out.

  • Its so cute!!!

  • Thanks! :)

However, must say, if you think that my effort is good, the actual animation students' stuff KICKED ASS and put this to shame. I was just being a dabbler.
