My dad just happened to be watching "Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story" when I sat down with him, this scene was played out, and I thought "gee, that tune sounds awful familiar!" sure enough, I realised I was thinking of Kanye West's Gold Digger. Now, my question is, Gold Digger came from Ray Charles' I Got A Woman and that apparently came from "Jesus Is All The World To Me". I can't hear it in that hymn, I think it came from here! Can anyone give more info on the tune in this clip! Thanks!

Fox studios was advised by managers of movie theaters in the south that scenes like this would not be well received and should be cut. And all though this movie was popular in the south, many towns people protested outside the theaters during the showing times.

Bill Bojangles Robinson also taught this dance to Eleanor Powell" The Queen of Tap." Both Shirley and Ellie were best of friends with Bill. Ellie named Bill to be the Godfather of her boy. You can see it on you tube. Ellie owed much to him getting her started. Shirley was very close to Bill also keeping in touch with him. Great stuff . One of the 5 best tap dance routines ever!
