Anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International releases its 2007 Corruption Perceptions Index of the most and least corrupt nations.
Somalia and Myanmar, followed by Iraq, appear on the bottom of the list as the countries perceived to be the most corrupt, while Denmark, Finland and New Zealand jointly took the top place for least corrupt. India ranks 72 in 180 countries on Corruption Index in the middle of the table. The Corruption Perceptions Index, or CPI, indicates the degree of public sector corruption as perceived by business people and country analysts. The Berlin-based watchdog said that richer countries bear some responsibility for problems in poorer countries.
