  • There was a fair delay to be honest of a good few seconds. It was my first go on one of the driver experience days. I would thoroughly recommend doing one.

  • When u move the power handle, is there much of a delay before it moves the loco?

Was it ur first go, or r u a driver at ELR?

  • you are correct - I did mean the number scale.

  • Ehen u say notch, do u mean just the number scale near the controller? after notch 1, the rest is notchless right, ie without clunks, invinately variable, analogue if u will

  • It was only running on one engine at the time, but it passes the camera on about notch 3 (out of 8 if I remember rightly). There is a very sharp curve after this so there was no opportunity for a fast departure. There is no traction to speak of until notch 3 anyway. After the bend I was able to apply full power. I did not have to worry about the ammeter.

  • Did u have to be really gentle on the power handle, watching ammetre carefully? as oppossed to just open full and wait (class 20)
