Since 1980, THE GREEN BERETS COMPASS COURSE has sold well over 50,000 copies. Army Rangers, Special Forces, and American ground forces use this system because its easy and keeps outdoors people from ever getting lost.

Other navigation methods fail. Why? Co-ordinating map lines with magnetic azimuths confuses many. GPS batteries go dead. Not only can back-tracking get you lost, but its often a death sentence in any combat area, where enemies see a foot print going one way and know the same foot print may soon return .

But with a $10 compass, you can go anywhere, and beeline back to your starting point, night or day. No back track, no system failures, no maps.

Cost: only $9.95 from Path Finder with free shipping/handling. Additional $2. discount for Boy / Girl Scouts & leaders. See: www.survival-books.com. Home office Email: dpaul002@hawaii.rr.com

  • As a graduate of the Special Forces Qualification Course and a Green Beret for over 13 years, I want to say that this system really works. I recommend it for anyone looking to improve their navigation skills.

  • Don I bought all your books back in the 1980's and then went out and did it. It was you that set my mind straight on what it really means to stay alive and even thrive. the compass Q course was great. I learned to use my compass, watch and pen and paper to stay found all the time. all before a GPS was even main stream. I could hit my target inside 5 mins and be within 50 feet every-time! and that etching your knife with degree's was great. never guess how high it is anymore. reverse wink:)

  • Get a real compass. A $ 10 compass will have several degrees of error, which means death over long distances. Get a Cammenga non-tritium model for 50 $ and it will last you for over your own life.

  • Of all Don Paul's books, this one is my favorite. I'm a very experienced orienteer, especially when it comes to multiple days in big woods, yet I learned some very interesting techniques. The SOCKNav system is simply brilliant. The more you practice and implement it, the more sense it makes.

Don- Is there any way you'd consider writing an Escape and Evasion book based on some of the stuff you and Sgt. Adams have already written?
