I recorded a few of the first round performances, starting with competitor 15. Apologies to those I missed, but I have no official involvement with the festival.

Competitor 19 was Derek Sammak from Englishtown, New Jersey. This is an original tune called "Too Young for Love Songs". He has another version on his YouTube channel. Derek made it into the finals, and I have also posted the two tunes he played in that round..

what type of camera do you use to film this

@ualbanychemist Canon HV40. It uses MiniDV tapes. I think it's been discontinued in Canada, but you can still get it from B&H in New York. I used an Audio Technica mic.

This was great. Many players seem to really over-do the harmonics and the drumming on the guitar. It's nice to hear a piece that sounds so complete without those techniques being the focus. Loved this tune! Also, I was impressed with the first-finger slide from 7th fret to 9th in that chord that stretches his hand over 6 frets. Wow! A lot of artists would have focused the whole song around something like that, but this is just seamlessly, naturally blended in. Great job, whoever that is.
