This little gem from Irem was another request for CM Gameplay but I cannot remember the requester... it was either StarHedghogPL or Cheetahmen92. Just to note, the footage of this game was done by SpaceNinja88 as I was unable to get very far in this game (unlike the last time where I did manage to progress to the second level, and that was a fluke). I hope no one minds that, especially the video quality being different compared to all of my videos.

In the video, the first two stages are shown and the fight against the second boss lasted for nine minutes, so the fight had to be truncated.

  • R-Type DX FTW

  • And the sequel was on it as well. Then let nintendo "Mess" with these games and then you get R-type DX!

  • I never knew that they made an R-Type on a the Gameboy

  • I love R-Type series. It's one of my favorite shmups of all time. Of course it's hard, but it takes a matter of time, patience, practice, and skill on most shmup games. I can give a tip on how to kill the second boss a lot quicker. Before you go to the center, destroy the centipede's body first at the bottom left early, so that he can't kill you. Then move your ship to the center and keep shooting until the boss is destroyed. Your pod can also damage the boss, too. Hope that helps!

  • This game is really sweet. ^^

There is also a R-Type DX for the GBC ;)

  • I was just lucky, when I recorded this. XD

  • Yeah, I've got this in cartridge form and it's one of the best early Gameboy games in my opinion.

  • Weird, this version of R-Type is actually pretty good for a handheld port.

  • Funny how this version was ported by the people who did the NES port of Ghostbusters :P
