Everyone knows Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest was a huge disappointment after Castlevania 1, but why?

Getting a laugh or two out of a video is a-okay with me, but I hope along with it we can open up channels for more intelligent discussion on game making and how designers both young and old can learn from the greats and not-so-greats.
