In New Zealand minimum wage is $13.00 youth included. Our employers pay us 8% of our earnings into holiday pay and we must take at least 4wks holiday per anum. We also have a saving scheme where employers and the Govt match what you put in. We also have a welfare system for the unemployed and sick, its enough to be a single parent and raise a family. We also have accident compensation, if a dog bit my finger off i may recieve $5000. Our taxes are high though at around 19%.

Henry Ford raised the standard of living amongst his employees in giving then a decent wage in realization that his very own employees couldn’t afford the cars that they were assembling. Henry was a great man in thinking about his employees quality of life, before higher corporate profits. Wal-mart making millions, whereas their employees make part time min. wage without health care.

OR corporations could give up a miniscule percentage of their billions in profits and raise minimum wage so that their own workers can afford to buy their own product. Crazy thought, I know. Keeping jobs locally and growing from within.

I really agree
Said by someone who doesn't work at minimum wage.
