But in a time of day before noon, you climb over the hedge boundaries to hear the songs of birds you heard only once in a time before memory. In a wild trance, you run on a stone path past flowers, fountains and temples that have remained much longer than those that kept them. You feel something old in the air watching. An ancient scent floats by. The garden vanishes. In a clearing you are now alone, but in dream the garden remains.
