Ghaderi Sufis of Kordestan, Iran

Never before filmed Ghaderi Sufi Dervish dancing in a Sufi temple in Iran.

While in dance induced trances with the polyphonic drumming, the Sufis enter mind-over-body states of consciousness. They have never demonstrated on film like this but they do demonstrate how the body is impervious to pain while some chew on razor blades, others have small daggers pounded into their skulls, others slash their bodies with swords and daggers.




The entire temple practitioners are all raised in consciousness energy states as the drumming creates an altered state of consciousness where the Sufis enter into theta and delta brain wave states while some lose consciousness. Notice many of the elders serve as protectors to ensure safety of the Sufis dancers.

Notice the young boys who learn early on how to enter into the trance- induced Sufi dervish dance states.

The head elder allowed this to be filmed when a visiting videographer asked permission. The elder came up directly to the vidoegrapher's face and stared into his eyes from one inch from his face and stared for 1 minute and then gave him permission saying he was genuine in his intent for filming. The elder said there is other music they play with their drums that causes listeners, and practitioners to lose consciousness but the head elder would not allow that specific ceremony to be filmed.

Notice the unique indigenous clothing and long hair that the elders and older Sufis have; while the younger boys are dressed in western style clothing. Interesting view of old and new generations sharing in the ancient traditions.
