It looks like they wanted two things at once. A poignant ending with Claude dying + the happy party at the end, which is how "Let the Sunshine in" is often interpretated :-/

thi isent supoed to be up beat till the curten call so i would have taken the claping and danceing out when he dies and do it during the curten call bt other then that its good
