hi everybody,
I have a problem with my MOTU 828mk2. It used to work great and I used it with 3 computers (PC and Mac).
Now when I connect the firewire cable to the sound card the clock indicator (sample rate) begins to flash... the computer does not see the sound card as a sound device.
I tried it with 2 computers and 3 different cables - same results.
other then that, it works fine when I connect some inputs and use the internal mixer to route the sound out (but I don't need a mixer:)

if the computer is connected when the sound card boots, the boot process get stuck.

spec:
iMac 27, i7, OS 10.6.8, connects via FW cable 9 to 6 pin
PC, IBM T60p,Win XP, connects via PCMCIA FW card, 6 pin to 6 pin cable.

**--PROBLEM SOLVED--** unit repaired by distributor
After talking to Motu tech support (I got a reply after 1 day) I sent the device to the distributor in Germany. They said that the board is fried (Probably because I connected the FW cable once up side down - The port is pretty wide so you can connect it both ways... flaw of design + reckless user).
so, I had to spend a bit for the repair, I think that in the US they do it for 99$.

  • @evshih send it to a MOTU dealer. In the states it should cost around 99$ and in Europe 99 EUR. (plus taxes)

they usually replace the hole device.

  • Thanks for posting. I have the exact same problem with my unit and thought it was a driver issue... now I can stop wasting my time screwing with it.
