Police say 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante dug holes in the ground to be used as a grave and plotted for a murder. Prosecutors say Bustamante strangled her 9-year-old neighbor, Elizabeth Olten, without provocation, cut her throat and stabbed her. (Nov. 18)

@MrBusterfoot You are like so many people out there who want to protect murderers. She has a psychological problem. She took away a human life. Why should anyone feel any sympathy toward her? I don't care how old she is. When I was 15 (only a few years ago), I knew right from wrong. Her age means nothing. She killed someone and permanently took their life away. Why should we reward her by giving her a life outside of jail for her crime? Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth!!!

no matter how gruesome, we created laws to try children as children, and lately there is a trend to try children as adults if some community feels a particular crime pisses them off more than another. 15 years old is very very young. Her crime is gruesome. But never the less, she MUST be protected under the laws WE created to be tried as a minor. We must protect our laws since we certainly are not protecting our children... victim or criminal.
