CPEeK_Up : Program that help speech disorder to telecomunicate with others

Communication has been essential part of human nature for a very long time. We can exchange information and ideas across vast distances through technologies. That makes mobile phones play an important role for helping people to commute to each other conveniently. However, typical mobile phones have a limit for some group of people such as those with speech disorder, so they have such a hard time communicating with others.

For this reason, our project "CPEeK-Up" can help those, who cannot speak but still can hear, to talk and communicate to other people via mobile phones. The program receives a text message from sender who's a person with speech disorder. This program will translate the text message into human voice by Speech Synthesis Technology. This project applies Vaja 6.0 from NECTEC for Thai and MS Speech API for English and Chinese. Synthesized voice data will be sent to an interlocutor over a typical mobile phone connection.

CPEeK-Up is made to be used conveniently. Usage cost of CPEeK-Up depends on the calling rate between the sender and the receiver. In addition, users can make a call to home telephone and emergency call services such as police and ambulances. Our program can guess the word and automatically correct errors. The sound can be switched to be male or female voices with adjustable speed.
