One of the monumental jazz recordings of all time that now resides on the National Recording Registry, "Girl From Ipanema" defined bossa nova for a generation. The song was composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim with Portugese lyrics by Vinicius de Moraes and English lyrics by Norman Gimbel. Jazz saxophonist Stan Getz recorded this with Astrud and Joao Gilberto and it reached #5 on the pop charts in June of 1964.

  • The links to download this song are not the same version that is in the video. Where did you get it? This version is 5:12 and the downloads are 2:46. what is different?

  • @sbergmann1 This version is the original "uncut" version rarely played on the radio because of the recording's length (most radio stations won't air anything that runs over 3:30). I honestly don't recall where or how I came about this version although I suspect it was obtained off an LP...sorry, I couldn't help you more....Lanny (Nocaro)
