Menuhin Competition Repertoire 2010: Mozart Violin Concerto No. 2, Andante

I was selected as one of the 22 competitors in the 2010 Menuhin Violin Competition, but was unable to go due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland. Here is my repertoire as I would have played it, performed here in Alumni Concert Hall at Carnegie Mellon University.

Having said that, this performance is probably my favorite of all of this passage, because it is a passage that is very difficult to make it sound bright and resonant, it is too easy to make it sound feeble. I love it, i just won't call it Mozart!

Being a Violinist and Musician, you are absolutely extraordinary. Here is about competition, very tough competition, and in my humble opinion, you have defeated yourself: When you play Beethoven or Mozart, it's about the music, or Beethoven or Mozart, not you. Mozart is not violin demonstration. If you were to pull a stunt like this, better with Brahms etc. You make an absolutely heavenly sound with your instrument, and that alone, if you just play the music, you will win!
