  • @incorporatedfx "Roman" Catholic - We will only believe that which was handed on to us from the Apostles. Any innovation or deviation from that is suspect at best, heresy at worst.

Protestant - I will make up whatever the hell I want to believe; screw the Apostles and the Church Jesus Christ established. I prefer my own man made traditions invented in the 16th Century and yesterday.

"if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector" Mt 18.17

  • Why are you so angry? Antichrist? Catholic church is the church that Jesus founded, and simply because some priests are evil does not change this. Was Judas not an apostle of Christ? There are less than 1% of Catholic priests who are Pedophiles, a lesser percentage than that of such profesions such as teachers and doctors! does that mean that all doctors are perverts? In fact as many protestant pastors have abused children, fact. Does that make them all pedophiles? Take away your hate and think

  • First, many catholic beliefs aren't biblical and did not start for hundreds of years after Christ. Example, forbidding priests to marry, Doctrine of Marry, purgatory, indulgences and so on. Second, your people have been reading the bible for themselves throughout history? Come on. The bible was only in Latin until after Martin Luther (which is one thing in his 95 theses).

  • @katana555555 That's debatable, but altogether irrelevant as the point still stands: If you believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God, then you believe the person/church who chose what and what didn't go into that book must have been guided by God. If so, then some church is under God's guidance, and it sure as hell ain't any Protestant Church that started in the 1600's (or a splitoff of some Protestant church from the 1600's)

  • @LightningLazer96 Correction, the Bible was compiled by the Orthodox Church. The Roman Catholic Church broke away during the 11th century......

  • Here's a question that I'd like a protestant to answer: It's pretty much known historical fact that the Catholic Church compiled the Bible. If Protestants believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God, then don't they believe that the person who compiled it had to be under guidance from God so they didn't make any mistakes when doing so? And if so, do you not agree, that God has been guiding the Roman Catholic Church?

  • Eastern Orthodox is waiting for their return to the one, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church,,,

  • You are so full of it.The Roman Catholic Church is the heretic. In fact,it's "Babylon the Whore:the city that sits on seven hills",ie:Rome. That's why you put tradition before the Bible, and tried to suppress it for so many years, murdering anyone who owned one.Because it exposes the liers that you are.The early ante-Nicene "fathers" were prior to the proud,corrupt,apostate,idolatrous,Mary-worshipping,Pope serving, purgatory believing,false-religious system now called the Roman(Pagan)Catholic Church.

  • @MrCraigfarrow I'll end with a question: can you name some specific ways the Catholic Church "drifts so far from scripture?" Let's address some of those questions and see if they are in fact "unbiblical."

  • @MrCraigfarrow So if the Catholic Church is infallible, how can one rebel against her?

Finally, I do not need to appeal to the universal testimony of the Early Church as spiritually authoritative (and for the purposes of my argument, I don't). But they are reliable historical sources. And the historical evidence proves that Catholic teachings have their origin in the ministry of the Apostles. Protestant deviations therefrom are therefore man-made innovations.

  • @MrCraigfarrow Third, how do you know what books are authentically part of the Bible? I assume since you have a high regard for Scripture that you believe that the books which make it up were infallibly chosen (if you do not hold to this, then the whole Bible is in question). But to say that the books of the Bible were infallibly chosen necessarily means that the body which selected the books is by nature infallible. That body is the Catholic Church.

  • @MrCraigfarrow Second, the idea that doctrine must arise solely from the Bible is an idea that was invented by men more than 1,500 years after Christ. If this was important for the Church, why did Christ and his Apostles neglect to mention it? As a matter of fact, there are indications even in Scripture which say the opposite (e.g. St. Paul commands the Thessalonians to adhere to oral as well as written traditions. II Thes. 2.15).
