iv always thought this bloke was a bit off a muppet, but hes done a great job of this song, and i cant stop listening 2 it. so hes changed my opinion of him. great song cheers

I didn't get a chance to see the Bobby Darin show. But I love the skits that I've seen here and there as well as the performances of so many different songs.

I think Tony Orlando should re-record this one. I had never heard of Bobby Darin until I saw Tony Orlando and he always included a tribute to Bobby in his act. It was years later when I started listing to Bobby's music. I enjoy the performances that I get to see on YouTube of Bobby Darin that I didn't see originally and I still enjoy seeing Tony every now and then in person. Both are great performers.

I think it would have been a huge hit for Tony. Darin was still alive when Tony did this. It's possible there were infrigment issues, they were friends. In fact he mentions Bobby in the last line of the song. You don't remember the Bobby Darin Show, I used to watch it every week? One week he had Dion & Steve Lawrence on at the same time, all 3 were doing a classroom skit, Bobby was the teacher, Dion & Steve were the students. I would love to see that again!

I've always said, everyone will always compare it with the very 1st version he or she has ever heard, in this case they will compare it to B. Darin. However, I have it by 20-25 different artist, you'd be amazed, there are some really SUPER great versions out there. Even Dion did a better version than B.D.
Then again, this is just my opinion, we all have our own, no harm done. Most will always like the very 1st version, that's just the way it goes.
