Dark Cloud Glitch: The Broken Dagger Attachment Item

This method of getting the broken dagger only works in the NTSC (U.S.) version. For those who have the PAL (European) version, click the link below:

The broken dagger attachment is a glitch item found in any store.

To get it, open your game menu with "Triangle", then close it. Now go to the store and put your cursor on the second row at the bottom of the attachment section, now put your cursor on the ice attribute (You don't need the ice there to do this glitch) Then quickly press "Right" and X at the same time.

You will grab a FREE broken dagger, and the broken dagger has no name. But you can only get it once while in the store. To be able to get it again, leave the store, open your menu with triangle and exit it. Now go back in the store and you will be able to get another one using the same method.

Attach it to your weapon and all of your stats will go to MAX giving you a major advantage in the game, and it makes the other attachments in the game almost completely useless. So now that attachments are useless, you can sell them for lots of money!

NOTE, If you are going to use the broken dagger glitch, there are a few things you need to know about it:

1: For those who have the PAL (EUROPEAN) version of the game, you will need a different strategy to get a working broken dagger. Click the link below for a working broken dagger for the PAL Version:

2: Sometimes trying to grab the Broken Dagger will cause the game to freeze. Don't know what causes this yet.

3: If you use this glitch on the very bottom row of the attachments menu, you will either get a game freeze, an invisible item, or if you're REALLY lucky, it will give you the best glitch in the game, the INVISIBLE MENU glitch.

4: DO NOT attach 2 Broken Daggers to a weapon. Doing so will make ALL of the weapon's stats go below zero, and makes your weapon break almost instantly. Don't put a broken dagger on a x2 slot either, or the same thing will happen.

5: Lets say your cursor is on a ruby, move the cursor directly to the broken dagger, and the description of the ruby will go slightly off center.

6: On occasion, the game will allow you to sell the broken dagger. The amount it's worth when selling is completely random. Drop the dagger in the store to sell it. DO NOT Quick Sell the broken dagger with Triangle. The game will freeze.

7: If you have your cursor on the Broken Dagger or any glitch item, the Store Owner's Speech bubble will rapidly change shape.

8: For all Broken daggers, they have special abilities too. But your weapon will lose those special abilities if you remove the broken dagger from the weapon.

9: If you use a check-in counter right before you try the broken dagger glitch, the item you grab will change.

10: On a VERY rare occurrence, the broken dagger's icon should change from a broken dagger, to a random sword in the game. The ones I got were an orange sword, and the Gladius. But these changes in appearance doesn't effect how the item will work.

Also, I know there are more glitch items out there. So if possible if you find another glitch item, can you please upload it and post it as a video response? That would be great.

my broken dagger did work but when i upgraded to the Atlamilia sword the abilities go away for example the ability stop doesn't stay when i do upgrade with the broken dagger it doesn't have the ability stop so, please help and tell me whats happening???

The abilities only stay on the weapon if you have a broken dagger attached to it.

Did you try the glitch on the other item rows? The broken dagger may be in a different row on the Japanese version. Also, what attachments are on the Wise owl sword?

ok, so the glitch worked after about fifty tries. I get 3 daggers, and I put them into my weapons. but since then, I've tried and tried, but no matter what I can't get the broken dagger again.

@00JPCM1 the save thing happened to me, so I put another broken dagger into the atlamillia sword, and as I attacked a cave bat. AS SOON AS I HOT THE BAT, my sword broke. WTF?! any help on this would be appreciated

Ok, so i did the glitch, got a bunch of broken daggers. Why cant i build up my weapons? is there a way to remove this block? Any feed back would be much loved thanks

@pokemonfan4000 ok thanks but when a leave the broken dagger attached to it the abs up ability it doesn't work i still get the same abs. can you tell me why??

Once you break the dagger does it turn into a synthsphere or do you have to get it to level 5 first?

Also, how did you get you stats so high with the dagger?? I never even use it...mine's level 1

holy cow soo much bad shit for the broken dagger, but oh well im still doing it :)
