elvis wasn't that good. not near as good as Buddy Holly nor Chuck Berry, and he couldn't write songs only cover them. I hardly think someone unable to write his own songs should be called the king of rock and roll, maybe the king of pill-popping hypocritical fatasses but not of rock and roll.

he actually co-wrote some of his songs..sure it is a plus when people can write their own songs..but it shouldnt determine your opinion of them..bob dylan wrote his own music and couldnt sing for anything...elvis is one of the greatest singers of all time..but if a guy cant sing he shouldnt be a musician..even if he writes his own stuff..he should just be a poet..or a song writer..elvis opened the doors for everyone..show some respect..thats why he's the king..he started it all

also..saying that a musician isnt good because he doesn't write his own music is like saying an actor like james dean or brando isnt good because they dont write their won scripts..elvis couldn't read music..he played by ear...he sang how he felt it..there was nothing technical about the man..he just let out what he was feeling inside..that is whats so great about him

Elvis' 1968 Comeback Special was absolutely perfect. This medley was the absolute perfect way for that show to begin. Elvis sings these 2 songs better than anyone. These are 2 of my favorite Elvis songs. Elvis will always be #1. I'm so very honored to be an avid Elvis collector. Thank you so very much for posting that video, 5 Stars.

I am a great Buddy Holly fan, have been to his grave, have wrote about him in my songs . . . but this particuular cut of Elvis doing the Reed tune is unbeatable. The ending is incredibly good. Elivs has the VOICE . . .

The sound of Elvis' voice on "Guitar Man" is amazing stuff. Listen to the way he says "I hitchhiked all the way down to Memphis . . ." and the vocals at the ending. The TONE of his voice is over-the-top amazing.
