  • Wouldn't these just be called adjustable coils? was pretty sure coilovers are already assembled, with ride height adjustment and sometimes compression and rebound settings, all you have is a spring with the adjustable perch.

  • @Dystractyd The term coilover used in aftermarket suspension parts simply means adjustable ride height. Damping, camber, toe in, and all other adjustments to better cornering performance are optional and not included on all coilovers. For instance I got coilovers with no damping option since I want it set at the hardest all the time. I also already have the camber I need so I didn't get adjustable top plates with the coilovers I have (not the ones in this video)

  • @atreyukicks coilover refers to a strut assembly where the coil goes over (around) the strut. nothing to due with adjustment until they are adjustable coilovers. even a stock cars suspension uses a coilover style strut and spring

  • @natemarauder8 That is what I said. I also noted that when I defined what "coilovers" were I mean't aftermarket coilovers.

  • @Dystractyd Also this set up in this video is a "coilover kit" not coilovers. It is used to convert standard strut and spring suspensions to adjustable coilovers

  • Ok I got the same coilivers but Jus found out I have to cut the Lil platform thing .. but do I have to wield it on there?

  • @josecadiz1000 Let it also be known that welding compressed gas tubes (like your struts) is extremely dangerous and should be left to professionals. I honestly dont think its necessary to weld them though since the weight of your car will be enough to keep it down.

  • @rockstarmatty23 Rice would be cutting your stock springs.

  • @rockstarmatty23 a) Every suspension you see on normal cars these days are coilovers...Coilover kits are not ricer, they actually offer more than simply looks, they increase spring rates by however much you want. Highest I've seen is 8 in front and 6 in back (kg/mm) which will drastically increase handling. Only reason I bought "real coilovers" (lol @ you) is because the springs are interchangeable and I got some 14 kg/mm at all four corners. An upgraded suspension is not rice even if cheap.

  • nice vid man!, i just ordered some cheap newpoint sleeves, i watched another video, but i think the dud was wrong cuz he grinded the perch off but then he grinded the weld so he could slip the sleeve all the way down to the freakin bottom, im glad i came across your vid, thanks

  • Ook I see now it slides on top of the weld

  • Got a 95 acura integra 3rd gen... Wen I cut the platform does the perch slide down to the bottom..n stays there ....first time doin this

  • @josecadiz1000 it depends, on the mazda mx6 2nd gen the original weld from the original "lil platform thing" remains after cutting and you can rest the coilover sleeve (The chrome thing under the spring) simply rests on it. However in some cars you dont even need to cut the perch (the "lik platform thing") you can simply slide the coilover sleeve onto the perch. To answer your question, no it does not HAVE to be welded, but you could do it for safety precautions.
