Soundfont Download v1.666 http://www.mediafire.com/?62d31216wq9ufx9
Good old doom music done by Bobby Prince. This rendered using a sound blaster live soundcard and [older, outmoded version of] regression fm sound font. no real instruments, all synthesis. Use the mp3 link above for a demo of the current version's capabilities with midi. Request a song! Please rate, thanks.
I did not compose this track. I merely designed all the instruments to sound the way they do... and that is mimic fm closely in principal while building upon it. Check my numerous other demos of this soundfont i've created. (200+ vids and going!) As always constructive criticism is welcome, as this is a work-in-progress but is mostly complete.
Download new and improved Regression fm 1.5 for soundblaster sound card users. Plays well with dosbox or your favorite midi software.

  • This doesn't sound like a real SB16.

  • @HaloSpartanG13 *claps* no kidding :) Thats because when I made this, the primary point was to recreate sounds from scratch - NOT just dub a sb16 like alot of ppl do. R-FM sounds much different now, and this vid has been left up for nostalgia sake by demand of the subscribers. I encourage you to check out the Maniac Mansion Dave's Theme, for soundblastery(16) goodness... but beyond that...no, this should sound like a sb16, it should sound better. Work-in-Progress 5+ years running. Cheers!

  • Downloads are available in my user channel @ the links posted in the comments - and YES it sounds BETTER than this. I've logged over a good year of progress since this video was recorded about 3-4 weeks prior to posting. For those of you saying 'the sb16 didnt sound like this' Well ofcourse it's not going to SOUND EXACTLY like it... just like 'emulation' works, im not copying sounds out of an old soundboard/synth and mashing them together, EMU10K1/20K1 DSP makes what you hear on-the-fly.

  • Wow, well DONE! Great job you did there :D

  • @tempwq I updated the link in the vid description since megaupload was taken down by the anti-pirate pirates..... (ugh) .

  • @tempwq No, my soundfont is Regression FM, OPL-3 FM 128 is a totally different soundfont (thats actually a direct dub of an opl3 soundcard). I've managed to make my own synth sounds on the fly using just mere base waveform samples and the soundcard DSP, which is why my soundfont is 6 megs not 128 :)

  • @breadrack Can you send me a link of the sb16 soundfont you mentioned? I think youtube fucked up your 'channel comments' section. Is it the soundfont OPL-3_FM_128M.sf2 made by this guy Zandro?

  • Not real SB16 sounds roland or adlib...

  • I'd say you did a pretty good job with the guitars, they sound pretty close to those used in the GENMIDI lump. :P

  • @MGMan37

To be fair, the SB16 emulation for the Live! card is meant to only work with DOS and Win3.1-98.

  • i came buckets. My god, it sounds exactly as it did on my (now long gone) Pentium 75. If this soundfont plays duke nukem 3d theme sone the way i remember it, i will freak the fuck out
