Daniel Gallegos gives his personal account of deception committed by Denver's Regional Transportation District some 20 years ago. This historical account is important information that must be shared, especially in Colorado's current climate of eminent domain with the FasTracks project. It's imperative that those who may be in the path of such transportation project objectives learn as much as they can before they are faced with the same prospects Daniel and his family encountered with RTD and light rail in the 1980's.

  • You are responsible for knowing what you signed. If that price wasn't fair, you shouldn't have signed it. The area of 30th & Downing - in the early 90s, before Light Rail - was rundown... and it is still slowly getting better. I'd would guess an old service station and a couple of old houses would not have had much value... and you could have bought something similar in the neighborhood for the money they gave you. Its sad, but be accountable for your role in the process.

  • RTD, like any big company ,is trying to keep their costs down. If you sign a contract without knowing what you're doing and end up getting screwed, you're just getting what's coming to you. It's as simple as that. They're not putting a gun to your head...In rush hour traffic, it takes 2 hours or more to get from Boulder to Denver sometimes...Light rail is the only logical solution. Oh, and the whole veteran thing? Come on! It just seems like your family made some some poor choices.

  • where's your proof? or is this just an arbitrary assertion disconnected from reality?

  • The Independence Institute is a puppet of Big Oil! FastTracks forever!!

  • Who'd want to live at 30th and Downing?

  • Good video -- keep up the great work.

Unfortunately this isn't surprising. Government is force.
