Nora Aunor won first place in Tawag ng Tanghalan when she sings You and the Night and the Music to challenge Jose Yap the champion but lost to him. Jose Yap lost to Grand Finals in a lady who sings "BEWITCHED" and where he sings ' I WHO HAVE NOTHING". Nora Aunor ,In her second attempt in TAWAG,she sings People and won again this time winning and beating the current champion and all the way to winning the Grand Finals where she sings ' MOONLIGHT BECOMES YOU" and the rest is HISTORY..

@personalkoment I thought Nora Aunor won the Grand Championships - Tawag ng Tanghalan. Her formidable competitor then was from the Visayas Region, Jose Yap who was 17 weeks champion singing "I. I who Nothing".

After the competition, Johnny de Leon took Nora Aunor to star in Operetang Putol-putol with (now Atty.) Espy Fabon, Perla Adea, Darius Razon and Edgar Mortiz. I still recall the first day of her guesting, she would only answer a word or two but after sometime, Nora Aunor blossomed..

Nora is indeed a grand national champion. Her winning song is "Moonlight Becomes You". Her first attempt was a failure because she was nervous at the time, but her second attempt was a successful one, winning 14 consecutives week - undefeated - and captured national title on 1967.

Nora was not a GRAND NATIONAL champion, she was a REGIONAL CHAMPION representing the Bicol Region, but lost to someone from another region during the grand national competition and the year was 1966, not 1967. Nevertheless, she became the BIGGEST and the MOST FAMOUS product of all singing contest! Everybody were just inspired by Nora Aunor, the incomparable, one and only SUPERSTAR!
