This two part video talk centers around the Old Testament travels of Abraham and unravels Islamic history.

This video only discusses the Book of Genesis and sets forth an orderly account that can be followed and understood. Once Islamic connections to Abraham are addressed and dismantled, there is no barrier to Muslims taking the New Testement as the natural and witness to God's Holy Tabernacle [Heb 9:11].

With regard to this rebuttal, for the article on Answering-Christianity, follow this link:

For my written response, follow this link:
http://www.answering-islam.org/authors/toler/rebuttals/ac/gods_people.html

if you don't feel like reading all of that, just study these notes as you follow the video:

God promies 'holy counsel' even to those who are estranged from his Tabernacle [Psa 73:22-28]. So, while Muslims are separated from God, they have not been forgotten.

I do not deny that the Muslims are the people of 'Allah', the god of the Quran, but in case it isn't evident yet, Allah has absolutely no genuine connection to Israel or the Bible.

Creation Commission given first to Adam, then to Noah [Genesis 1:22; 9:1].

Muhammad failed to follow the example of Noah in all but his sins, and Job would be ashamed of such a pitiless man as Muhamamd [Job 16:16,17].

God scatters people into tribes, clans and nations [Genesis 11:1-9; cf. Q. 49:13]. That separation can be blamed on none other than the violence of mankind. From out of this chaos God chose a certain man to be the father of the Jews, from whom salvation would come.

Abraham called while in Haran [Genesis 12], a long way from Mecca!

Isaac called Abraham's 'only son', not once but THREE times [Genesis 22].

God's visitations to Abraham need to be reviewed [Chapters 15-17].

Death of Sarah, and Abraham's own death [Chapters 23-25].

Now for the analysis of the verses under discussion. Abraham was to have a son from his own body [15:4], but the wife of the Mighty Prince was to have a hand in the Promised Son [17:19]. Abraham was to 'walk blameless in the statutes of God' [17:1-2]. Muslims who claim the supremacy of Ishmael over Isaac need to take note here. Both Patriarchal Parents are given covenant names. God is making his plan very clear: not every son of Abraham is inheriting the promise. Only the Promised Son from the bodies of BOTH covenant parents is to be the heir.

Abraham had several vissions. For more on why visions are necessary in making revelation accessible, please read:
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/13001a.htm.

Circumcision, the sign of the Covenant, is not mentioned in the Quran:
http://www.answering-islam.org/Index/C/circumcision.html

Note that in 21:8-21 several important events effect the later narrative. First, a great feast is thrown for Isaac. No such delight was seen with the weaning of Ishmael, and the thanksgiving for Isaac is occasioned with the expulsion of Ishmael and Hagar. The thanksgiving held for Isaac occupies the same place in the narrative as the dismissal for an important reason. So that there is no confusion regarding just who is the Promised Son.

Abraham was evidently doubtful of being able to have a son at such a late stage of life, and in his scepticism offered Ishmael to God as an alternative, which was rejected. Muslims should also take note of verses 11-15 of chapter sixteen, where an entirely separate set of expectations were made to Hagar and that scripture records no later angelic visitations to her descendents.

It is also critical to note that none of these historical events can be found in documented pre-Islamic Arabian sources. Even the Quran as a legimate source of Islamic history is suspect:

Sarah later dies [23:2], and Abraham takes another wife, Keturah [25:1]. Wtih her, there were six more sons, all of whom are treated in the same way as Ishmael. All his sons of the concubines were given gifts and sent away [25:5,6]

Micah 7:20; Note: God will be true to the promises made to Jacob, and will be a mercy to Abraham. That promise was initially made in Genesis 12:3 and confirmed in later verses. It was renewed both with Isaac [26:3] and Jacob [28:14]. Muslims need to explain why the descendants of Ishmael play no role in these promises at all.

  • How can Ishmael be a bastard if Abraham was legally Married to Hagar?

  • I didnt say u said, this is argument that

    many Christians and Jews use.

  • I would say that to some degree, both statements are true. That said, I never stated that Ishmael was a 'bastard'. In fact, I clearly wrote that Abraham loved both his sons. If you lie about what I say again, you are blocked from making posts to my videos. So, be careful or be gone.

About incest, [1] Abraham and Sara were 1/2 blood, [2] this would not be incest in N.E. or Egyptian law, and [3] the Mosaic covenant hadn't been delivered yet. So, while your post makes no sense, mine does.

  • No there is only one Quran, Bible has 666 different versions.

  • Actually, it was the Muslims who altered the passages, then called the redacted and badly edited version 'the quran'.

  • Sorry, but these passages which utterly reject Islamic claims aren't cprrupted by mere fiat of a false prophet. You need more than that. Abraham loved both his sons, no doubt. In fact, Abraham's choice was Ishmael, but God had other plans. Go back and read the verses which you claim are corrupted. Really, I think if the Jews were altering Biblical passages to exclude Ishmael, they could have done a better job!

  • The Jews altered the passages in the bible for nationalist reasons.

  • It says no such thing in the Quran. In fact if ur saying that Ishmael is a bastard, Then what wud u say if i told u that Isaac was a result of incest.

  • Becuz the old testament wich u follow Had Been given the Jewish nationalist treatment.

  • Ishmael was Abrahams first born son.The promise was made in Ishmael.

THe Jews who altered these bible passages cudnt comprehend that the promise was made in Ishmael, so they altered the biblical passages.
