UPDATE, April 1/2010 - Africa, Gus, Lilie, Owen, Sheba, Ulysses and Wylie have been adopted - yay!!!! But there are still lots of beautiful black cats available for adoption at Animal Aide!
March 2010 is Black Cat Month at Animal Aide of St. Thomas Elgin. Spokescat Mustard is here to tell you all about it. //
Hi everybody! Spokescat Mustard here to tell you that March 2010 is Black Cat Month at Animal Aide!
That means that everyone who adopts one of our beautiful glossy black cats will receive a free gift package full of cool stuff!
And our black cats will be featured on Inside Elgin and First Local on Rogers Cable all month!
Why? Well we've noticed that our black feline friends usually wait much longer than other cats to be adopted so we want to help them find homes faster. After all, they're just as loving and loveable as the rest of us!
Black cats are considered good luck in many parts of the world, so why not adopt some good luck - and a whole lotta love - for yourself?!
Email us at animalaidcentre@bellnet.ca, call 519-633-3788, visit http://www.animalaide.org/ or visit us in person at 333 Talbot Street, St. Thomas.
Come on in and fall in love - with a beautiful loving black cat from Animal Aide!
Oh hey, I have a video about black cats being good luck! :-) If you want, you can take a look, I hope it'll help more black cats get adopted and help educate people a little on the truth about the type of luck a black cat (or cats!) can give you.

I just got a black cat that is about 6 years old. I got it from a girl that said she was moving and couldn't take him with her. I hate people like that. If they have a pet they should look for a place that takes pets. You wouldn't just put your children out because the place your renting doesn't like children, would you? He was abused when he was younger - he has a bobtail and a piece of the tip of his ear cut off. He is so sweet and loving. I'm afraid to get close to him, though.

I have 2 black cats that I love. One is a Norwegian Forest cat and is so affectionate. I adopted him at a shelter, his name is Figaro. I pick up the little kitten, he climbs up to my shoulder and starts kneading and licking my nose. He had a look as if I AM NOT GETTING BACK IN THAT CAGE !!! So, I suppose he adopted me. I have had him since 2004 . I can't keep him off my lap, and he still kisses me. He is twice the size of his big brother Mini-me, but knows he is still the kitten of the family.

I hate how people judge black cats. I have one, 15 year old Kitty, and she's amazing :) Hope that they are all doing well :)

Temple Grandin writes that genetically, black cats are "the naturally friendly cat" in her book "Animals Make Us Human: Creating the Best Life for Animals". She mentions research showing they may have immunity to certain diseases as well. She highly recommends adopting a black cat.
I have two solid black long-haired cats & find they're very loving and playful.
