During this video, we'll explain what is a JFET as well as how to select the right one for your application from our line-up of JFET products. A JFET, or junction gate field-effect transistor, is a type of field-effect transistor. It can be used as a voltage-controlled resistance or as an electronically-controlled switch.

A p-type JFET consists of a channel of semiconductor material containing a large amount of positive charge carriers or holes, whereas an n-type JFET consists of a channel of semiconductor material containing a large amount of negative charge carriers or holes. At each end of the JFET, ohmic contacts form the source and drain. Electric charge flows through the channel between the source and drain. Electric current can be impeded or switched off by applying a reverse bias voltage to a gate.

JFETs can be used for several applications including in a High Input Impedance Amplifier, Low-Noise Amplifier, Differential Amplifier, Constant Current Source, Voltage Controlled Resistor or Analogue Switch

There are several different kinds of JFETs. At Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by Channel Type, Maximum Gate-Source Voltage, Minimum Drain Current, Drain-to-Source Voltage and Packaging Type. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the required specifications.

At Future Electronics, we offer customers several of our products in quantities that will help you avoid unneeded surplus.
