My second piece for the stl star search competition! Yay!

I decided to go with a piece that's not all that well known. Dragon's Breath by David Arkenstone. It's such a beautiful celtic piece! I just had to make it just a little more famous if I could. The sound is completely raw. My dad is playing his guitar beside the camera, because if he was too far from the microphone, the ocarina would overpower the guitar.

Thank you, Dad! Thank you thank you THANK YOU for accompanying me with this piece! I cuoldn't have done it without you!

Wish me luck guys!

  • Beautiful song and a nice man! Your ocarina is the same to mine.(TNG Purple Clay Triple AC). But I have a problem that bothering me for so long that my ocarina always become moldy every day. I need to wash my ocarina frequently. Do you have the same problem and how you solve this kind of problem. Thanks!

  • @turing700 I do have the same problem but only on the mouth piece. I usually just scratch it off since washing it will just keep leaving moisture for it to grow back. If you want to keep the mold from growing, the only method I know is to just keep the ocarina in a very dry place. As long as you're in a place that mold spores can find their way to the ocarina, one will eventually land and wait for nice conditions to grow.

  • @subakuryu Thanks a lot for your advice, and it must be helpful. And I have other questions. When you put your bass triple ocarina in its box, the ocarina will become moldy soon? Or you just put your ocarina outside? Which is better? Besides, the mold sometimes seems to grow inside of the ocarina and produce some odor. How can I manage it? Thanks!

  • @turing700 I've never had that problem before. It's mainly been on the mouthpiece. However if you think that your case is keeping the ocarina moist, perhaps you should invest in some desiccant to put in your case. As for helping remove mold that may be inside the ocarina, I can only suggest that you put the ocarina under a heater when not in use, or every once in a while you let your ocarina sit in an oven for a bit so that you burn any spores that may be in there.

  • Beautiful playing. You guys are very good to play that live and not have to mix it down. Are those purple clay ocarinas as good as STL makes them out to be?

  • @kookoomyer Well, it depends on what you mean by that. If you mean their claims that purple clay becomes better sounding due to absorption of moisture in the clay, I personally think it true, but other people think otherwise.

But what counts is that this ocarina is indeed very good. Several players I know very much enjoy the sound of the purple clay series as well as it's playability and aesthetics. My purple clay triple is my most used ocarina. Why do ya ask?

  • :-) nice solo !

  • T H I S I S C O O L!!!!

anyway i think the guitar is a little bit detuned

  • Thanks a lot. I have been putting my ocarina on the balcony to dry in the sun, and its really helpful.

  • Man it must have been a real challenge to match the length of breath provided by a bagpipe! I can imagine you were a little tipsy by the end! Very well done even if the occasional slight interruption to breathe offed the tempo a teensy bit.

A person -does- gotta breathe after all ^_^

  • respect guys!

that makes the world a little bit better!
