Interpreters at the European Parliament work in many different kinds of meetings and can find themselves working for their Prime Minister one day, for a group of schoolchildren the next.

In the EP, they work for political groups, for specialised committees, for TV debates and cover an unending range of subjects! In addition to that, the interpreters travel all over the world, accompanying delegations to overseas conferences, on visits to other parliaments and on election observation missions, working with all forms of interpreting (simultaneous, consecutive and whispering). You're guaranteed to meet interesting people!

  • I'm from the United States. I find this video to be very refreshing. I've put this in my favorites and will also let my friends in the US who are interested in creating multilingual/multicultural space know the link to this video. The concept of multilingual/multicultural space is very new in the USA and is fiercely resisted by some who demand "English Only!!"
