http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - Don't panic! I'm not planning to move to Hawaii. However, my last visit here wasn't the greatest, and I recorded a video depicting the reasons I'd never live there. This vacation has been so amazing in a short amount of time that I thought I'd record a video talking about how great it is, and how IF I were to ever move, I might consider living here. http://chris.pirillo.com - http://geeks.pirillo.com

  • why is someone eanking in the background?

  • @Kamaka675 Aloha, You are very fortunate to have lived in Hawaii all your life! I do live in Hawaii and I love the place, the people, the culture. Although I took a class on the Hawaiian language, there is still much to learn. I have read many books however on the history and the culture and I have protested along side Hawaiians in our attempt to bring to light the history of what happened here in Hawaii ~ Aloha nui loa and Mahalo! Love and Peace, KK

  • @KK96703 Indeed, you have never studied the Hawaiian language, and therefore have no basis to argue about the etymology of any Hawaiian words. The false etymology you believe in has been perpetuated by generations of non-speakers. Mary Kawena Pukui, who was an expert on the Hawaiian language, correctly believed otherwise. As have the majority of linguists in this area. I am Hawaiian, have lived in Hawaiʻi my entire life, and speak the language fluently. I doubt you've ever even been here.

  • I have not studied the Hawaiian language, never said that I did...on the contrary, you don't even live in Hawaii and think you are an expert!

This is what the meaning has come down to mean by the LOCALS here---that is what I was told by LOCALS...

You don't know anything about Hawaii by staying in the SHERATON in HNL! Ha Ha Ha-----I live here!

  • @KK96703 Inā paha kāua e hoʻomau i ke kūkākūkā ʻana e pili ana i ke kumu o kēia huaʻōlelo, pono nō e nānā i nā kumuwaiwai ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi maoli, ʻaʻole i nā kumuwaiwai ma Wikipedia wale nō.
