International Wolf Center - 20 January 2012 - Finally, a Minnesota Winter

It's been a long, long fall and this week is the first real feeling of a winter that can make a Minnesotan proud. We have had temperatures ranging around -20 degrees below zero and the wolves take it in stride. If anything, we've observed an increased appetite and an increase in some dominance, but that may also coincide with the time of year. This week's video is a bit shorter, partly due to cold fingers, partly due to cold cameras, but it has a good representation of all pack members.

I do manage to tell Shadow and Malik apart now when seeing there faces, but I was always wondering how you know who is who by just looking at the surveillance camera clips =P

I've been with them since pups, so I tend to focus on their mannerisms, and there are some subtle coat differences. In the dark it's harder, but Shadow has a broader skull and an overall broader body frame.

thanks for the videos of the wolves. I watch them to study the nature to better understand dogs. Later in life I will be a holistic vet and I need to know everything about our pets and their ancestors to better understand them inside and out. Maybe one day I will come to visit and check out your amazing wolves. They look so healthy and well taken care of. Wolves symbolize my mom who passed away long ago, she loved them, so thank you for posting these vids!
