The best description of an additional dimension has been given by Carl Sagan imo, he made me understand :)

They can't see a triangle, they can't see in 2d, that would be like a human looking at another human and seeing not only all the sides of the head but all the volume as well (kinda like a catscan); what they see is actually one (or at most two) walls suddenly appearing and the shrinking away; a nice way to visualize it is to take an image (or video for that matter) and remove all lines except for the middle one (and perhaps stretch it up and down to fill the screen)

its really easy to understand

1D makes up 2D

2D makes up 3D

and so 3D makes up 4D

.

the only way a 2D creature can percieve a 3D shape is by drawing it in 2D
