DR Winter (Autumn? Spring?) 2011 I: Plandampf - Coal meets Steam II, February 3-6

Scenes from the Lößnitzgrund narrow gauge steam railway on Thursday and Friday morning, then moving on to the Plandampf event around Zeitz near Leipzig. The photo train on Friday sadly was cancelled as steamer 44 2546 had air pump damage and was replaced by diesel 112 708 for the whole weekend. Other participants were 52 8154 and 65 1049, the latter also suffered damage by the end of the event.
As for other circumstances: the weather was quite stormy which also provided some great moods and more sun than forecasted. Of course it was a challenge for videography, but thanks to my latest addition, a separate audio recorder which I used for most scenes, it could be managed. So, enjoy relatively wind and noise-free sound! :-)

Hallo Roni,

klares Bild, kein Gewackel und ein sauberer Ton - ergibt einen erstklassigen Film! Ich weiß, Du als Fotograph bist anderweitig beschäftigt und kannst deshalb Du nicht mitschwenken usw. Trotzdem sauberer Film! Mir erschließt sich allerdings nicht, warum Du einzelne Sequenzen in sw dazwischen schneidest - bei Fotos lasse ich das als künstlerisches Element gelten, aber in Filmen finde ich das eher störend...

Wenn S/W bei Fotos wirkt, bei Filmen tut es das erst recht. Vor allem wenn man Licht/Schatten Kontraste hervorheben will, oder im Fall der Szenen hier mit den heruntergekommenen DR-Anlagen, das schreit förmlich danach. Ich habe es bei dem Film aber eigentlich nur sehr selten eingesetzt. Einen positiven Nebeneffekt hat S/W im Film auch noch: es kann grelle Farben ausblenden, vorher störende Elemente merkt man plötzlich gar nicht mehr...
