My Blade400 crashed twice on its own. While I was hovering, it just looped out of control. The first time it was a full elevator back flip into the house. After I repaired everything, I brought it into a 1 foot hover to test. All was well so I went up to about a 10ft hover. Then, it just did a full right aileron roll into the ground......again I didn't give it that command, it just did it. WHAT THE HELL!!!
After repairing again, I checked everything and discovered that the servos are intermittent. I only have about 10 flights on this bird and would not expect the servos to fail like this so soon. I will post back Horizon Hobbies response when I get one.

  • buddy you have stripped your servo gears on the first crash hence the non responsive or intermittent servo movement now

  • I think your right. I did a quasi auto rotation and landed hard. No crash, but I suspect the hard landing stripped the gear initially. The stock servos are suspect and I recommend replacing them.

  • Get new servos, I have the JR DS285s. Actually with your skill level you should get the metal gear version the JR DS285MG. Eflite saved some money with the stock servos.

  • I put the JR DS287MGs in it and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Seems like it is twice as responsive now than the stock setup and I'm not freaked out about it failing in flight anymore.

    Awesome.

  • @wes654654 I've bought THREE Blade 400's and lost TWO ESC's that smoked out like that. The servos, ESC's, & gyro's are crap. I now have a Trex 450 pro and a Trex 500 3G and CAN'T BELIEVE what a difference. I actually spend as much time flying as I used to spend in frustrating rebuilds on the Blade 400. I bought three B's so I could actually fly when I got to the park.

  • replace servo, check receiver and 2in1 unit

  • How long you had your heli? Nice stuff.

  • Not the batterie for sure. Mine did the same... It is the servos. Change them for hitec HS65mg ( for Metal Gear). Then you might have to calibrate the "tavel adjust" on your TX to your "tast". Good luck.

  • had the same problem myself. it flew great a few times and then all of a sudden it would roll to the right and hit the ground. the second time i almost saved it but it still crashed. gonna replace the servos

  • seems like you may have broken teeth in the servo gears or the small circut board might be damaged,

after even a slight crash you will break servo teeth in the gear box, you can replace them with a new set but i would recomend metal geared servos or a recomended brand like hitec or such

the less likely event it could be the tx or rx thats the problem, horizon hobby did a recall on the dx6i some time back that might be the cause too

  • ha. Same thing with mine except I was able to save it. Landed hard on the tips of the skids and blades grazed the ground but full neg pitch got her flat. Thanks for the tip on putting pressure on it to see if it recovers and it did. HS-65's here we come.

  • Sorry, meant the transmitter / remote was recalled.

  • Isn't the receiver recalled for this?

Check the Horizon Hobby product page, they have the recall notice there.

  • you may need new servo gears the stock servos suck get a set of new gears they cost 3 bucks did you center them after the fix
