This is an attempt at Horizons by Genesis' Steve Hackett. I have been teaching myself how to play for a year now, so I think I'm doing pretty well. An Ovation 17777LX Legend guitar is used.

  • it should be horizons - genesis!!!

  • All of those that put "Steve Hackett Cover" on their recordings are unfortunatley wrong. Steve Hackett is the guitarist for Genesis. It's not a cover. A cover means a different band/person did it. Only one person to my knowledge has ever done this piece, and that is Steve Hackett. Genesis is in my tags though.

  • Thank you! The guitar itself was a gift, but the retail value was $1800. I really should start posting again...

  • Well I had used the tuner on the guitar itself, which I had always found to be quite accurate, but for some reason this piece does seem a bit off. It's probably because this is about the 10th take and I had been cutting corners... Guess I need to take my time from now on. But I would not mind reposting it at all!

  • @Kanoppo I like it on both classical and steel-string instruments. I think they each have their own pluses and minuses. I recorded my version on a steel-string Ovation...you can see it on my channel.

  • @Kanoppo I like it both on classical and steel string instruments. In,fact there is a whole school of classical players that play and write specifically for steel-string instruments. I recorded my rendition of "Horizons" with an Ovation steel-string guitar, but I was basically playing the album version. I like it both on classical and steel string instruments.

  • @garbeaj your are right. i had only listened to the live version, in which steve plays it with an spanish guitar, and it's sounds much better

  • @Kanoppo The original recording on the Foxtrot album was done on a Martin steel-string guitar. Though this is a classical Bach-inspired piece, the original recording was actually done on a steel string guitar...

  • this should be played with spanish guitar

  • thanks a lot for upload this vid is one of the best because i can see your finger clearly and that is helping me to play this song, you do it very well
