  • The most beautiful 10 minutes I've ever seen... This video is history in the making; I've seen lots of footage from great singer-songwriters in the early years (60s, 70s) and envied the audience to have experienced such magic from all those great artists. Joanna Newsom brings back those glory days. It's a treat to see her completely absorbed in the music, with all the power and emotion she brings. I'm truly grateful that I was sitting in the audience during this breathtaking performance

  • @ardianworld Thanks..i remember i had to swallow a tear when filming it, it was truly amazing. Love her.

  • this performance honestly had me crying. 4:20 is so wrenching, it's like glimpsing the old Joanna for barely a moment.

and do my eyes deceive me? Is she crying at the end? Touched by the power of the performance, or something else?

  • I was searching for the perfect anti-Valentine's day song, and Joanna Newsom's heart-wrenching 10 minute ballad about abortion (?) did the trick! I'm never having sex again.

  • good god Newsom. I want to go back to there..

  • Oh my SACK, this performance is too, too, TOO good. Joanna's either from space, in my imagination, or she fell from Heaven. I've viewed this video countless times, each time accompanied by goosebumps, a giddy smile on my dial, and the urge to push play again as soon as it's done.

  • Professional musician for 40+ years, I've have played with Grammy winners... I think this performance is stunning. This is storytelling, it speaks of times past, present and future, it exists with it's own life... it is art.

    Thanks for the post

  • @honkytonkywinkywonky

there is alot more then her voice. her albums tell amazing stories, and she is a great writer.

if you dont like it dont listen.

  • @ardianworld Is everyone here serious? I think she sounds like a deaf person trying to sing, Seriously what is wrong with you people, are you all deaf too???????????????

  • Joanna, just thank you .. thank you for showing me that beauty to this level does really exist. I first heard this song whilst in a car in the middle of the night down a country road with thunder and lightning all around me. I was so moved that I had to pull over and I just sat there close to tears for all 9 minutes of it. People say religious experiences change their lives etc, well that may be true for some but for me it's just experiencing beauty at a level beyond comprehension. Thanks Jo!

  • When you remember what she said in that old bizarre interview, that she has trouble expressing emotions except in the form of a song, when creating art, and when you know the lyrics and have a very good idea, knowing other songs, of what exactly she's talking about in this song, it's as if she had immortalized those emotions as penitence, to relive again and again. Our poor Joanna. May you be freed from it one day, before the moonlight catches your eye.

  • @brngrgld never too late to start my friend.

  • @ardianworld This music has always exsisted :S.. It's a scottish style of music. You can find a ton of gaelic songs that have passion like Newsoms. Amazing music did not only exsist in the 60's through 70's. It has always exsisted. It's what YOU look for.
