No, I didn't reach the Shredder legitimately -- I'm convinced that the PC version is quite literally *impossible* to beat without cheating -- but the cheat code is off during this battle. Hence my erratic playing; Shredder in this game freaking terrifies me! He takes away like half of your life if he just grazes you. And then there's the ending.

I think Shredder actually looks better here than he did in the NES game, but Splinter and April look positively horrifying.

(For those of you who maintain that the game is, in fact, possible to beat without cheating, see the challenge here -- http://www.scary-crayon.com/games/tmnt12pc/ -- and good luck!)

  • looks like shredder is doing ballet when hes jumping around. why do they always have to disappoint us like.....you play through a game thats hard as hell, and you figure the last boss is gonna be really hard but when you get to him hes easy, WTF?

  • @pyramidhead138 Well, it's not like most people ever saw him! The DOS version of TMNT1 is literally impossible to beat without the use of a code, so it doesn't really matter how hard or easy Shredder (or any bosses/enemies after the Turtle Van part) are. :)

  • @WestheCrayon i never played the DOS version but the NES version and i used game genie to beat it.

  • @pyramidhead138 Yeah, it's actually possible to beat the NES version (even without using the Game Genie). But there's this one jump in the DOS version that, due to them drawing the ceiling too low, is literally impossible to make. You have to use this clipping code to walk across the grass in the overhead area (thus completely bypassing that sewer section) to advance.

  • Loading that save file on your page, how the heck do you even get over the FIRST jump after you go down the ladder in that stage there? I just tried a bunch of times, but just couldn't do it even once. I just bump into the edge of the platform above you every time and either have to go back or fall in the water. Bah!

I also forget the save/load controls, or how to quit, and don't have the manual here. I do own this though. Never got past the dam level... even with saving, it was just too hard.

  • Oh, I'm convinced that it's impossible to make that jump! That said, some people have claimed to have been able to make it... so I've got that save there so that someday one of these people can go right to the jump and prove me wrong.

  • Shredder is a joke in this game.

  • Turtles (to creepy April): We went through all those fights and you want to celebrate with just A PIZZA?!! ONE SINGLE PIZZA?? (SERIOUSLY.JPG)

    Cheapskate.

  • What's weird is that in the Japanese version, April seems to refer to Splinter as her father ...

  • the boss music is dope in the version lol, but whats wrong with April?

  • Shredder, the princess of ballet

  • where I can download the music of the battle? mp3?

  • @Gamewitzer

The April from THIS game? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised… >_>

  • @KizulEmeraldfire

I wonder if April would rip your face off...

  • @Gamewitzer

Yeah, that was pretty much MY reaction — she's scarier than Scarlett O'Hara's ghost in 'Uninvited'! D:

  • oh my god the music...
