The first event of the Humanities Council's biennial World House Series was a lively panel discussion on Washington's local efforts to contribute to the green movement. Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells discussed the Anacostia River Cleanup/Bag Tax initiative; Green DMV co-founder Rhon Hayes introduced innovative new ways to create jobs through sustainability efforts; and Cynthia Hartley, Executive Director of the Capitol Hill Energy Co-op, talked about community-based green programs.

The event was held at the Capitol Skyline Hotel in Southwest Washington, DC, and was moderated by Humanities Council Board Member, Yolanda Alcorta.
