This video is of several thousand Sandhill Cranes flying in at Sunset from feeding in the nearby cornfields to roost on the Platte River for the night during their annual migration. The unusual and hard to describe "warbling" noise you hear in the video gets VERY loud as more Cranes come in to land. The wind was gusting to 30 MPH so you also hear some wind noise. Up to 500,000 Cranes will stop over on the Platte River during the annual Sandhills Crane Migration through Nebraska. www.NebraskaTravels.com

  • Just posted a Video Response above of another "Cranes coming in at Sunset" Video taken from a Rowe Sanctuary viewing blind very close to the river -- and the Cranes! -- in March of 2009. Has red-orange sunset in background.

  • Friends,

Please help oppose the hunting of sandhill cranes in Kentucky. Letters to the editor of Kentucky newspapers from out of state residents who appreciate the cranes are much appreciated. For the Lexington paper send letters to hleditorial (at) herald-leader (dot) com.

For the Louisville paper go to the courier-journal website

    Thanks
